How is 12g tank with the Panorama strips? I was interested in getting them for my 30gl long to add to my 2X39w T5 coralife setup. I'd like to get the shimmer effect in my tank and also just to add more light. I am leaning towards the Strips due to space restrictions under my canopy but I wasn't sure how well they performed. Also I have the standard blue and white
10000k bulbs in my current fixture, I was wondering if I put two of the strips end to end to cover the length of my should I go with the white/blue strips or just get two blue strips and use two white bulbs in my T5 fixture.

So it's been about 100 days since the initial post and I realize that the initial pictures were crappy. It's not in your face obvious but the corals in the 120g SPS tank has grown nicely and colors are nice. I only lost an ORA pink milli but this was due to constant shading from the large Derasa. Some of the corals/clams were moved around but the overall structure is about the same.
So 1 watt LEDs for growth, color & stability, take a peak :)

Here's a 45g tech tank that I had sitting in the garage for a while now using a 24" Solaris I5. Plumbed it to the 120g SPS tank to grow out some frags. I'm using a 24" Solaris I5 at 50% whites & 100% blues. Just some pics of the corals to show the spectrum of the I5 unit with a decrease in whites by 50%. Still whiter then the Pacific Sun spectrums which are on 100% whites and blues.
Remember though that the Pacific Sun are 1 watt LEDs at 120 degree spread factory designed to be at about 18k at 100% intensity and that the Solaris I5 are 3.5 watt LEDs with 41 degree focal optics factory designed to be at about 14k at 100% intensity:

ksweat,
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier.
The 12g nano is doing great with the two Panorama strips. Total of 24 one watt LEDs with a ratio of 2 whites to 1 blue. Works well for a nano and as supplement light but don't get fooled that 4 strips can light a 30 or 40 breeder as primary light. The trick with 1 watt LEDs are that you need to cluster them for intensity, hence the 90 watt or 120 watt LED fixtures.
I think that if you want to supplement your existing T5, go with 2 of the white/blue 8K strip. If you want to add blue to the overall color temp, then go with 2 of the 453 or was it 460nm strips.
Heres what the 8k looks like:

Warren everything look good did u move your sps more up since u using your led?

Ricky,
I only moved up the ugly brown one that is glued on the upper right front of the overflow box because it was hidden in a bak corner. But for the majority, the SPS corals are where they were when I switched over from MH/VHO back in Dec. I did add an ORA O. Tort, Ice Tort & Blue Iris since though.

Do you think that if I added two Panorama LEDstrips to my T5 setup I would be able to grow SPS or a clam

What t5 setup do you have. You should be able to keep both with t5's alone. Depending on how many bulbs you using with your setup.

Warren, nice update! Thanks for sharing once again!! So have you noticed more or less growth from the switch?

I see you have many duplicate frags in your frag tank, hehe.. You need someone to house some extra for you, ;)

Tom,
I have seen more growth with the 1 watt LEDs then from the previous 250 watt SE MH lamps.
I'm basing it on 1 year of use with the Aqua Connect 14k bulbs versus 4 months of Pacific Sun 1 watt LED lamps.

Soon as them frags grow out, you need to take a road trip :Blurp:

Ricky,
They are 4.25" off the water surface. I started out at around 6" back in Dec. & have lowered them twice to the current and final height of 4.25".

I also turned them around since they were first mounted. They are perpendicular to the front pane now versus parallel.
I find that this lights up the edges a little more then if placed parallel.

From the look at them now, they need a visit very soon.. haha

Have you used the other LED lights that you got from china (Tom's group buy). How they are comparing so far?
