My pH has dropped to 8.0 in the evening, my alkalinity is 12.5. How can I raise the pH without raising the alkalinity?

Thanks

how do I do an aeration test, and how can I get rid of the co2 buildup if that is the case?

Thanks

Take about a cup of the tank water and put an airstone in it and let it bubble for about 20 minutes. Then do a PH test on it. If the PH is a lot higher, than you have a co2 buildup. To lower co2 you can increase circulation and aeration. Or reduce the bio-load that is causing it.

If it is not a case of CO2....
I have found dripping kalk raises my pH, and doesn't effect my alkalinity.
Do you drip kalk?
