I am going to create a mini breeding center and I was wondering, can the main breeding tanks be connected together as in a flow-through system or must they be separate, if so why? I understand that the grow out and other transfer tanks must be on their own system.

Thank you :)

Together makes it easier to care for - greater volume makes keeping water parameters stable easier. I've heard Banggai's can be bred in a 10 gallon, if it's part of a big system, but need 30 gallons if in their own tank. Also one big system costs less (one big protein skimmer costs less than 10 small ones.

Many systems means less chance of disease spreading through the tanks. I've heard of people who have plumbed systems so that they can be run either way. Also some people have talked about large systems with UV sterilizers between each tank.
