Any thoughts on R.O. filters? Are they worth getting? I don't know anything about them. Where's the best place to hook them up? Under the sink? Basement? What are some good brands/sizes? I am getting some buildup of brown algae that the snails and crabs aren't keeping up. Thanks, Jay

They are a good investment, my next equipment purchase is an RO/DI. Gotta get that DI stage for reef, it really is the key to getting out silica and phosphate, and in reality you need special DI resins to really get it out.

I'm looking at a Kent HI-s RO/DI or a Spectrapure 4 stage with the silica buster cartidge.

That brown algae are diatoms probably, they thrive when there is not enough light and silica is present. Is it a new tank? If so it is normal. If it is established tank with top off water, then your top off has silica in it.
