I notice that Tomascik, et al, say that Hexacorallia is now being used less often, however, Charlie Veron uses Hexacorallia in Corals of the World. Given Charlie's position near or at the top of coral taxonomy, is it likely that Hexacorallia will become the subclass of preference?

As mentioned in the chat, it is not likely this is the most appropriate term for the higher systematic. Time will tell which becomes more acccepted. Cnidaria replaced Coelenterata, and we will have to see if Zoantharia replaces Hexacorallia.
