I ran a couple of tests recently and this is what i have:
Calc-470 (salifert)
Alk- 6.38 dkh(hanna)
Mag-over 1500 (salifert)
Nitrate-40ppm
Po4- 0ppm (salifert)
salinity- 1.028
as of now im dosing just alk to raise it to the 8dkh mark
I have a 75 gallon tank and i do 20% water changes monthly. I get very slow sps growth and most of the time they brown out on me. So i guess my question is how do i make my chemistry more stable and allow sps to grow? Should i dose calc as well to balance out the alk even though my calc is fairly high? When i do water changes my nitrates stay at the 40ppm mark so it seems as if WC dont help the nitrates?

Thanks for your time and patience in explaining this to me
