ID Green Macro-Algae

My tank has been almost a month with only one fish at this point, and I've got some pretty amazing life in my tank without all of the fish. I have a ton of algae growth, much of the normal hair algae. However, I have two other macro algaes. One of them I identified as Ulva sp., the lettuce type of algae. The other one I can't seem to find, and unfortunately, I can't get a good photograph of it as its growing on the back of the tank. It's bright green, and looks like a segmented worm. It looks a little like Cymopolia, only the segments aren't as wide, and they don't have the characteristic tufts at the end of the stalks. The stalk does look (and feel) like it's calcerous.

Any ideas what this is? And should I rip it out or leave it in?

I don't think so - Halimeda looks too flat. They almost look like little neon green worms.

Since it's harmless, any opinions as to whether I should leave it in or pull it out?

Leave them in if you like their appearance. It can give a tank a very natural look. Emerald crabs ate the ones I had like corn on the cob

Along with this stuff and the lettuce algae, I also came home from vacation to a small, thriving bubble algae colony. :sad2: I may get an emerald crab to try and get rid of it, so my Neomeris might go the same way.

before the crabs mow down the algae can I get a bit of it for my fuge?

it will grow and eventually I can give it back to you if the crabs eat it all

Sure! Eric and I were talking about plucking a bunch out earlier today so you can certainly have some.
