Olympus D540 Macro Help

OK, I really like this camera for the $$ and for the general picture taking ease, but trying to take pictures of stuff in the tank SUCKS. Does anyone have any suggestions for using this camera for macro's and closeups? Macro mode seems to be good for about 18 - 24 inches, but at 3x zoom that is not good enough to see detail in most things I want to take pictures of. HELP!

Truth be told, macro of anything further into the tank (beyond 6") becomes progressively more difficult to shoot. You will need a tripod, the correct white balance, and a parallel shooting angle (lens paralell to the glass). Unfortunately, there is no macro lens attachment available for your model.
