i have a hermit crab who seems to be disturbing my gorgonians and colt coral is this normal and he seems to be eating my coraline algea should he be erradicated? thanks for any help. :?:

Their normal walk anywhere they can without regard is normal. I think they like smashing stuff. As far as eating coraline goes it's fine. They will eat it for a while and then move on to better foods.

My electric blue hermit started eating coraline but moved on after about a week or so. I think he realised all that scraping wasn't worth the trouble.

thanks for the insight about the crab problem. not sure what kind it is bright red with black dots, only 1 big claw. :D

Most hermits are little bulldozers. If he does eat a little coralline w/ proper Alk/Calcium you shouldn't notice it too much.
